let's go to the movies

worth seeing
win win
directed by thomas mccarthy
starring paul giamatti
mike flaherty, an attorney & volunteer high school wrestling coach, is struggling to keep his practice afloat and to provide for his family. in order to earn some extra cash, he becomes the guardian of an elderly client. when his client's grandson ends up on his grandfather's doorstep, the situation becomes more complicated than mike had anticipated. this film is a must-see. has a rich story, strong performances & lovable characters. a well-balanced dramedy.

jane eyre
directed by cary fukunaga
starring mia wasikowska & michael fassbender
a very elegant version based off the novel by charlotte bronte. if you are a fan of the book, then you will not be disappointed. after seeing the other versions, i think that mia wasikowska's performance is the best potrayal of the character. i'm guessing a future best actress nominee for 2012.

lincoln lawyer
directed by brad furman
starring matthew mcconaughey & ryan phillippe
based off the novel by michael connelly. i haven't read it, but if it's anything like the film then i would enjoy it thoroughly. mickey haller is a criminal defense attorney who conducts his business out of the back of his lincoln sedan. he lands a case that seems to be pretty simple, but ends up being more complicated, dangerous and with a twist that he had not anticipated. smartly written, and matthew mcconaughey was charming.
